What a fantastic weekend we had at the National Equine Art Prize Exhibition held in conjunction with the running of The Mansfield Cup. Congratulations to the organising committee for putting together an event which combined equine art along with country racing.

On Friday the Twilight Gala Evening at the Track had the marquee pulsating with a live musical show by the “Sassy Sisters” – Brilliant!! An auction raised over $3000 for the local hospital, prior to the art judge renowned artist Tony Pridham announcing the winner of the inaugural National Equine Art Prize.

Congratulations to Kathy Ellem for her lovely oil portrait of two Clydies “Just one short straw…….please”

It was also great to see Kate Jenvey take out a Highly Commended with her oil depicting a high country herd “Thundering Hooves”.

On a personal note I was delighted that my own watercolour “The Cattlemen’s Cup” was one of eight works that found a new home.
